Community-based prostate cancer assessment clinic for men of BME background

In 2017, the Urology Centre of Nottingham City Hospital collaborated with BME Cancer Charities to create a community-based service providing information and investigations for prostate cancer. This service was aimed at men of African-Caribbean background, who have a higher risk of prostate cancer combined with a lower rate of engagement with main-stream medical services.
This service was funded for two years and was very successful. Bría was part of the team who delivered the clinic and has audited the results over the following years. She will share learning points from her experiences, and how nurses can use their skills to make healthcare more accessible to their patients.

This session was delivered on 24 March 2021 for Prostate Cancer UK's Clinical Nurse Specialist conference.
