Following completion of this module, you should be able to:
- Identify the key principles of effective risk communication about localised prostate cancer and its treatment.
- Recognise the implications of commonly held beliefs about cancer progression for patients’ understanding of a prostate cancer diagnosis.
- Distinguish between communication that can counter and communication that can reinforce inaccurate perceptions of the risk of cancer progression.
- Recognise the implications of the sequence of information delivery for patients' perceptions of risk and benefits of treatment
- Recognise how gaps in patients’ understanding of consequences of treatments for low and intermediate risk prostate cancer can be avoided.
